We Believe
In a school where every child — blind, low-vision, sighted — learns side by side.
The Arab Episcopal School was founded in 2003 to welcome the blind and visually impaired children of northern Jordan into a real school, among sighted peers — and to build a community where inclusion is the very design, not an afterthought.

AES is the only school of its kind in Jordan that integrates sighted, low-vision and blind students — educating them all to the best of their ability, together.
Founded in September 2003 by Rev. Samir Esaid and Mrs. Sabah Zurikat, through the Anglican Church in the Middle East.
School Life
Moments from our classrooms
From Christmas pageants to field trips across Jordan, life at AES is full of learning and celebration.
Our Purpose
Why we exist
Before 2003, the blind and visually impaired children of northern Jordan had no option for education except to travel to Amman — an hour away. Many had spent their lives out of the public eye.
Rev. Samir Esaid and Mrs. Sabah Zurikat saw the difficulty of sending such young children away from home for weeks just to learn. The answer was a school in Irbid where these children could read, write and grow — alongside their sighted peers, in a safe and natural environment.

Our mission: integrating blind and low-vision students with sighted students, providing all with the best educational and social opportunities.
